Support has always been paid for via the license fee. The only change now is that I am limiting free support to one year from the date of purchase because with the many hundreds of users Pixaria Gallery has, it's no longer feasible for me to offer support on an indefinite basis.
If you would like to have continued support after the first year, there is a yearly $99 extension available which also entitles you to upgrades such as the forthcoming version 3.0.
Paid support is given via e-mail as I can't guarantee to respond to all posts in the forums (though this is something I'm trying to improve on ).
